The 2022 Olympia Parks, Arts, & Recreation Plan outlines the trajectory of the department and lists many of the exciting projects planned for the next 20 years (Parks, Arts, and Recreation Plan).

The Olympia Parks, Arts and Recreation Department is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented professional to join the Parks Planning & Design section as a Project Engineer II. The successful candidate will join our Parks planning and design team in the planning, design, and construction management of various park development and major maintenance projects that are part of the Parks Department’s approximately $7 million annual capital budget. The selected individual will be responsible for completing and guiding the design of multiple capital construction projects, coordinating with other project team members, and managing construction of the project. This is an exciting opportunity for engineers who enjoy being involved in all phases of project development.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Current registration as a Washington State licensed Professional Engineer is required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Works well with others, both individually and as part of multiple design teams, in a schedule-driven environment.
• Ability to manage the design and construction of multiple site development projects.
• Experience in local land use and construction permitting processes and requirements.
• Fluent in designing projects and preparing engineering plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Experience preparing specifications and contract documents using the WSDOT Standard Specification format and CSI specification format.
• An understanding of public works contracting, including the evaluation and implementation of sustainable design and construction practices.
