ASSOCIATE ENGINEER job in Gig Harbor

The City of Gig Harbor is seeking an Associate Engineer within the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department. The ideal candidate will have training and professional experience in the Civil engineering and/or Municipal engineering fields. This position is responsible for a broad range of Public Works engineering services including private development project review and permitting, and design and contract administration of City Capital Improvements projects for the City’s streets, stormwater, water, sanitary sewer, and park systems. Candidates will know how to collaborate well with their team, other departments, and community members, possess excellent communication skills, and have a positive attitude. We are looking for an individual who models the way, a team player focused on serving our community, accustomed to follow-through, following up and helping others.

Minimum Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field; OR
• Four years of related Civil Engineering* experience working under the direct supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with a City, County or engineering related business which does considerable work for local government agencies; AND
• State of Washington Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification. 

*”Engineering” means the “practice of engineering” as defined in RCW 18.43.020 and for this position no other equivalencies will be accepted.
