SummaryThe City of Lynnwood is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician - Source Control Inspector! The Senior Engineering Technician – Source Control Inspector sits within the City’s Surface Water Management Division, which is in the Public Works department. Individuals in this position perform independent duties to fulfill the City’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Phase II permit requirements. The duties include a variety of technical support functions related to surface water and environmental management, NPDES / Clean Water ACT compliance, date entry and mapping, and site inspection. The City is looking for a candidate who can successfully perform the following duties: -Establish and maintain an inventory that identifies properties that will require inspection per the requirements set forth in the City’s NPDES Phase II Permit. -Assist with the creation and organization of the City’s Source Control Inspection Program. -Inspect annually 20% of businesses/sites in source control inventory list. -Inspect sites following credible complaints. -Maintain and organize digital inspection reports. This position provides technical support services to the department's office and field activities by coordinating with Project Managers, consultants, contractors, and other agencies on design development, and construction administration. Provides plan review and on-site inspection on a wide variety of public works and developer projects and collects, analyzes, and maps data, provides management reports and support materials. Employees of this class are expected to exercise independent judgment in solving field and office problems. This position may also include special assignments as directed. Essential Functions: May include but is not limited to such essential functions as listed below: -Perform administration, record keeping, and reporting of assigned programs and/or projects. Review development plans and permits. Inspect and coordinate the work during construction and maintenance projects for public works and developer improvements. -Respond to complaints and concerns and provides technical assistance to the public, developers, contractors, engineers, and businesses regarding areas of expertise. -Collect, analyze, input, report, and map various types of data. Convert data to other formats. Train other employees on methods, processes, and approaches to data collection and software/hardware utilization. -Coordinate the preparation of plans, specifications, and contracts for city improvement projects. -Coordinate with and provide data to Project Managers, consultants, contractors, and other agencies on design development, construction administration and compliance with all state, federal and local regulations and requirements. -Maintain regular attendance. Minimum Qualifications: Associates Degree in Engineering and three (3) to five (5) years of increasingly responsible, directly-related experience or an equivalent combination of related education and experience. Valid Washington State Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier. Ability to obtain within one (1) year, Cross Connection Control Specialist certification if assigned to the Cross Connection Control Program.
