Rural Development Initiatives (RDI) is hiring a Program Manager to be a major player in our economic vitality and leadership development efforts throughout the rural Pacific Northwest. We are looking for a dynamic person who is skilled at moving communities towards action, comfortable striking up conversations in an unfamiliar small town, and adept at walking beside rural leaders as they chart their course of action towards economic vitality. Our ideal candidate is a professional, motivated, flexible self-starter who is passionate about rural issues and can thrive in a collaborative, virtual environment. We’re looking for a candidate with an understanding of rural economies, people, and places. Knowledge of rural policy issues and challenges a plus. You should have at least three years of related experience plus a relevant degree. This position requires strong organizational skills coupled with excellent time management skills. The ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures is a must. This position does require extensive travel to rural places. You’ll need to be comfortable driving in all weather conditions and be okay working with energized community members on scheduled evenings/weekends. The location of this position is flexible, with a preference for a home office on the I-5 corridor with easy airport access.
