The City of Mukilteo is currently seeking a hard-working, enthusiastic, and qualified candidate to join the Public Works team!

The position and level of technician hire will be determined based on the applicant's qualifications.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The City of Mukilteo Public Works Department is comprised of 24 full time staff members, one half time staff member and during the summer months, several seasonal staff. The Department is divided into two divisions, Engineering and Operations, and is responsible for the ownership and maintenance of the City's stormwater and transportation networks, facilities, fleet, parks and public grounds, and oversees all activities within the public right-of-way and engineering related private development. The mission of the Public Works Department is to work together to keep Mukilteo safe and sustainable, today and into the future, through active stewardship of our infrastructure and natural resources.

OUR COMMUNITY
Mukilteo is a waterfront community situated on Puget Sound, approximately 25 miles north of Seattle. This scenic area has views of the Olympic Mountains to the west and the Northern Cascade Mountains to the north and east. Mukilteo retains its friendly hospitality and welcomes visitors with its scenic setting by the Sound.

Rich in history, Mukilteo was the site of the 1855 Point Elliott Treaty signed between Territorial Governor Isaac Stevens and 82 Indian Leaders representing 22 tribes. Mukilteo balances its sedate and picturesque setting with its role as a transit hub for 2.4 million vehicles and over 4 million commuters who utilize the Sound Transit Train Station, Washington State Ferry service, and State Route 525.

Today the city's population is 21,320 and its diverse, multi-cultural residents continue to share a great sense of pride, history and tradition of community involvement. Mukilteo amenities include an award winning public golf course, quaint shopping areas, restaurants, financial institutions, and several parks and open spaces for recreational opportunities. The City is also a neighbor to the Boeing Company, Paine Field Regional Airport and other major employers along a technology corridor that reaches from northern King County through Mukilteo.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Engineering Technician, under the supervision of the Assistant City Engineer, performs basic engineering technician duties related to the operations of the Engineering division of the Public Works Department including, but not limited to, private development project reviews and inspection, capital project implementation support, and transportation engineering services including support of the City's Traffic Calming Program.

The Senior Engineering Technician, under the supervision of the Assistant City Engineer, performs senior-level engineering technician duties related to the operations of the Engineering division of the Public Works Department including, but not limited to, complex private development project reviews and inspections, capital project management, support in the development and implementation of departmental plans, consultant and contractor contract management, and transportation engineering services including oversight of the City's Traffic Calming Program.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Engineering Technician
Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and ability would be:

• Education: Two years college-level courses in mathematics, drafting, surveying, engineering, or other related field. A bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field is desirable.
• Experience: Two (2) years related experiences that directly translate to the above Essential Duties and Responsibilities.
• Washington State Driver's license.

Senior Engineering Technician
Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and ability would be:

• Education: Associate's degree in mathematics, drafting, surveying, engineering, or other related field. A bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field is desirable.
• Experience: Five (5) years progressively responsible experience in Public Works engineering and operations . Preference will be given to municipal public works experience in private development review, permitting, capital projects and/or transportation engineering.
• Washington State Driver's license.
• Certified Erosion Sediment Control Lead (CESCL), preferred
