About the Position

The Olympia Parks, Arts and Recreation Department is looking for a motivated, knowledgeable professional to join the Parks Planning & Design section as a Senior Engineer. The successful candidate will join our team in the planning, design, construction inspection, and project management of various park development and major maintenance projects that are part of the Parks Department’s approximately $7 million annual capital budget. Key responsibilities of the Senior Engineer position are to provide coordination and oversight to two Project Engineers, provide engineering project management for major park construction projects, and oversee the parks capital asset management program. This is an exciting opportunity for engineers who enjoy being involved in all phases of project development. A flexible and hybrid schedule is available.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

• Experience in engineering design and construction oversight.
• Understanding of land use and construction permitting processes and requirements.
• Experience in preparing specifications and contract documents using the WSDOT Standard Specification format and CSI specification format.
• Understanding of public works contracting.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including working well with others, both individually and as a part of multiple design teams, in a schedule-driven environment.
• Experience working with design consultants and construction contractors.
• Holds a Professional Engineers license.
