This position typically works Tuesday - Saturday 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM. However, the position requires a rotating day/evening shift, which will include working evenings, overtime, weekends and holiday shifts as operational requirements dictate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Execute a variety of skilled and semi-skilled building maintenance and repair at the airport including general equipment maintenance, basic carpentry, painting, light plumbing and light electrical work.
- Perform grounds maintenance duties including mowing and trimming grass, cutting brush and trimming trees, planting and pruning trees and bushes, and various other landscaping duties.
- Conduct daily airport inspections to ensure the airport environment is safe for aircraft operations including ensuring proper operation of runway and taxiway lights, picking up trash and debris (Foreign Object Disposal), dispersing wildlife, and noting maintenance and repair needs of airport buildings and facilities.
- Perform various custodial functions to assure safe, clean, and orderly grounds and buildings; clean airport restrooms, and perform minor plumbing repairs.
- Perform required repairs and preventive maintenance on the control tower, hangars, city owned buildings and other airport facilities including fences and signs.
- Apply non-restricted use pesticides and herbicides to various airport areas in accordance with established health and safety regulations.
- Operate a variety of tools, equipment and machines including small hand tools, tractor and push mowers, back hoes, trucks, sprayers, and other equipment; instruct others in the operation of equipment as necessary.
- Maintain an inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies; maintain shop area and equipment in clean and safe condition; assure the security of tools and equipment.
- Prepare and maintain various records and reports related to purchases, time sheets, inspections, and spraying activities.
- Inspect storm drain and sanitary sewer manholes; perform minor repairs; coordinate cleaning and flushing of storm drains and sanitary sewers with City's Utility Division.
- Assist with snow removal, water operations, and pavement management as needed.
- Respond to and assist in airport emergencies as needed.
- Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance., Contribute to an environment of teamwork and respect.
- Foster a culture of equity and inclusion by recognizing the diverse needs and perspectives of groups and individuals.
- Remain current with relevant technological advancements as it relates to field.
- Participate in and help provide cross-training in processes as directed by management to ensure a well-rounded team for coverage purposes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- May be assigned to support city priorities during emergencies.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of this classification.
- Minimum 2 years of diverse building and grounds maintenance experience.
- Or 3 years relevant education and experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- Successful passing of a required background and driving record check.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Drive to offsite locations to perform essential functions.
- Move throughout City facilities and buildings.
- Operate a computer and other office equipment.
- Lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds on occasion.
- Lift heavy objects in awkward and confined spaces, using proper lifting and rigging techniques.
- Climb and work from ladders, climb stairs. Bending, stretching, and standing for extended periods.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions (and indoors in an office environment occasionally).
- Exposure to high voltage wires, hazardous materials, heights, and noise from equipment.
- May be required to participate in standby or on-call rotation.
- Noise level out in the field is moderately loud, noise level in the office is moderately quiet.
- Work evening and/or weekend hours as needed.
