Description

Lacey Fire District 3 is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Chief, Medical Services Officer (MSO). If you have experience and a passion in planning, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating technical and administrative aspects of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) programs, and activities then this is the job for you.

The Assistant Chief of Medical Services Officer (MSO) reports to the Deputy Chief of Operations. This is a union, FLSA 7K-exempt position. This position is a forty-hour per week union-represented position.

Minimum qualifications:
• Current status as a career Paramedic Lieutenant (or equivalency) or higher-ranking officer.
• Associate’s degree is preferred or a combination of experience, education, and training that would provide the level of knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Successful completion of an accredited Advanced Life Support (ALS) paramedic training program.
• Requires county-level Ongoing Training and Education Program (OTEP) Evaluator certification or must obtain certification within one (1) year of appointment.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Medical Service Children (EMSC) training is desirable.
• Experience in program development and project management.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, partners and the general public.
• Ability to stay up-to-date on new techniques and information impacting Division goals and activities.
• Ability to provide leadership and guidance to assigned staff.
• Demonstrates and exemplifies “The LFD3 Way”.

Additional Requirements:
Candidate/Incumbent must possess and maintain Washington State Paramedic certification (within 6 months of hire) and/or National Registry Paramedic certification at time of hire; possess or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire any U.S. state or District of Columbia driver’s license, and maintain such license for the duration of employment; must be Emergency Vehicle Incident Prevention (EVIP)certified; must maintain fitness and qualifications for respirator use; must comply with labor contract provisions.

Wages and Benefits:
$12,394 (step 1) - $12,871 (step 5) per month DOE (compensation study underway- anticipated update Jan 2025)
