Description

This is a full-time, limited-term position scheduled to last for a two year period. 

SUMMARY:
The City has an exciting opportunity to collaborate with a variety of city teams in the coordination of the employee's COVID response and return to work protocols. Perform technical, analytical, educational, and professional tasks in the City’s effort to reduce the risk of exposure of COVID-19 and other public health risks in the workplace. Work is performed independently and as part of a team. Tasks are completed with general guidelines and require some independent judgment. Contribute to the City’s vision, mission, and goals in the performance of all job duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Research and maintain knowledge of the most current guidelines and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevent (CDC) and Washington Department of Health, King County, Washington Labor & Industries, and other authorities, with regard to Covid and other public health related matters.
  • Advise leadership on Covid and other public health related matters, as needed.
  • Maintain, recommend, and update the City’s COVID related policies and procedures.
  • Assist all levels of leadership with exposure, workplace contact tracing and positive case management; maintain any tracking, if applicable. Provide approved procedure information, making resource referrals, as appropriate; providing insight on status of employee quarantine or isolation to manager, and/or HRRM, as appropriate.
  • Answer supervisor and individual employee questions regarding Covid and other public health related matters and serve as a resource and support.
  • Provide communication and education regarding compliance, PPE, and regulations; to include evaluation of current trends and safety measures; maintain mandatory signage, when required.
  • Prepare and provide regular and special notifications, including internal notification with unions, employees and external communication with King County Public health, if required.
  • Maintain current employee vaccination verification records, adhering to applicable privacy laws.
  • Work closely with HR team to support Workers’ Compensation COVID claims.
  • Plan with and coordinate city’s “re-opening” team to include precautions related to safety/health/COVID in the on-site workplace.
  • Provide information and resources for employees on the city’s internal website.
  • Manage vaccination/weekly testing program, if mandated.
  • Oversee and lead changes to the “Lobby Hub” services to the public, as appropriate, to include coordination of staffing.
  • Assist departments with public facing plans, events and services, as they relate to COVID and other public health concerns; refer public inquiries to the appropriate source.
  • Monitor for and share current and future grant opportunities related to COVID.
  • May assist the Communications division with public facing communications related to COVID and city operations; as appropriate.
  • Contribute to an environment of teamwork and respect.
  • Foster a culture of equity and inclusion by recognizing the diverse needs and perspectives of groups and individuals.
  • Remain current with relevant technological advancements as it relates to field.
  • Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • May be assigned to support City priorities during emergencies.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate’s degree or any combination equivalent to college-level course work in public health, industrial hygiene, business, human resources, emergency management, education and/or employee safety, and
  • 2 years of public or private health or safety experience;
  • Or a bachelor’s degree in any field;
  • Or 4 years relevant education and experience.
  • Successful passing of a required background check.
