Description

OVERVIEW
Snohomish County 911 is seeking candidates to fill a full time Wireless Systems Supervisor position in Snohomish County. Under the direct supervision of the Wireless Systems Manager, the job emphasis for the Wireless System Supervisor (WSS) is the daily operation, maintenance, and enhancement of Wireless systems as well as customer satisfaction with the provided services. The WSS role will directly oversee the Electronic Communications Specialist (ECS) and Facilities Staff and participate with hands-on completion of work. The WSS will be responsible for ensuring a positive work-environment to ensure a high-degree of employee productivity and accountability. The WSS will prioritize all technical work assignments as well as help facilitate future enhancements to the wireless system. This is an FLSA exempt position.


KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensures the continual operation of the critical wireless systems through monitoring, testing and evaluation of all equipment and configurations.
• Prioritize and schedule work activities for radio technicians and maintenance staff.
• Monitor staff work-products to ensure quality, safety, adherence to wireless technical policies as well as any applicable codes or rules from authorities having jurisdiction based on the work performed.
• Create a highly-capable technical team by identifying training needs, mentoring staff, sharing information and developing professional development plans as needed.
• In conjunction with the Wireless System Manager, work efficiently to resolve system outages or disruptions and identify/mitigate root cause.
• Assist with developing long range plans, recommend improvements to existing communications systems and lead in the implementation of recommendations.
• When necessary, assist with installation, maintenance, modifying, repairing, and removing radio transmitters, radio receivers, microwave transmitters, microwave receivers and associated multiplex equipment, antennas, coaxial cables, dispatch center consoles, supporting computer systems, LANs, WANs and related equipment.
• Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance is an essential function for this position.


QUALIFICATIONS
• Technical degree, trade school certification, or other documented multi-year training/education in topics directly related to design, installation, maintenance and repair of wireless communication systems.
• Minimum five (5) years’ direct experience in installation, maintenance and repair of land mobile radio systems, Motorola trunked radio systems and applicable subscriber/console equipment.
• Minimum five (5) years’ experience in supervising, training and evaluating staff.
• Washington State Driver's license.
• Ability to complete and pass a criminal background and credit check as required.
• Regional radio system experience preferred.
