Description

Whatcom County HR is a division of the Administrative Services Department including Finance, Facilities, and Information Technology. The County has 850 regular, full-time employees and 75-150 seasonal, temporary employees. We provide a variety of public services such as law enforcement, road and other infrastructure improvements, public health, parks facilities, court services, elections, and more. HR Representatives work as generalists providing support to assigned departments in multiple areas including recruitment and selection, benefits administration, leave administration and workers' compensation, classification and compensation, and policy/legal compliance. There are currently nine collective bargaining agreements covering 81% of County employees.

The successful candidate will have exceptional communication skills, proficient and adaptable technology skills, and a willingness to learn and contribute with other professionals in a collaborative team environment. Contribute to Whatcom County's future through public service!

Miniumum Qualifications:

HR Representative I

  •  Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Human Resources Management  or a related field;
  • Two years of progressively responsible professional (FLSA exempt) human resource experience.

HR Representative II

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Human Resources Management  or a related field;
  • Four years of progressively responsible professional (FLSA exempt) human resource experience.
  • Including two years of human resource generalist experience.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience spanning multiple human resource functional areas.
  • Experience in a unionized and/or public sector environment.

Must pass job related tests.

Background check must meet County criteria.

 

Salary Information:

Unrepresented Resolution

 HR Representative I:

  • Range 310
  • $4,665 - $6,304 per month

 HR Representative II:

  • Range 325
  • $5,294 - $7,143 per month

Negotiable depending on experience.

This position receives annual pay increases to the next step in the associated salary range.
