Description

Association of Washington Cities (AWC) is recruiting for a full-time Loss Prevention Coordinator to join our dynamic and fast-paced team. The top candidate will have strong organizational and interpersonal skills with an understanding of loss prevention and risk management activities with worker’s compensation.  

What you'll be doing

  • Conduct on-site loss prevention inspections of member’s facilities with particular emphasis on Safety Alliance membership, evaluating risks for underwriting purposes and making recommendations to members for reducing risks
  • Collaborate with Loss Prevention Supervisor to maintain the Work Safe Employer award criteria, and assist members in achieving a workplace culture of safety and productivity
  • Assist the Loss Prevention Supervisor in data analysis to evaluate program success and modify programs to meet member needs for maximum effectiveness.
  • Meet with members’ safety committees as needed and review committee policies
  • Implement member education curriculum and contribute toward evaluating and updating training materials, strategies and offerings.
  • Conduct customized trainings as needed at member locations and State conferences as requested by the Program Manager or Loss Prevention Supervisor for program representation, member relationship management, and professional development
  • Develop, review and/or revise loss control manuals and other resources for member use to eliminate or reduce exposures
  • Provide loss prevention content for all program-related communications, including monitoring the content of marketing materials and the website
  • Work closely with claims staff to identify risks of individual members and overall loss prevention trends and exposures of the program
  • Communicate regularly with program staff on member issues and needs as identified through onsite visits and other member communications
  • Develop a working knowledge of the Washington Administrative Code and Revised Code of Washington as they relate to public entity loss prevention standards and training requirements

What you bring to the team

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, public administration, insurance, or a related field
  • Two years’ experience in loss prevention or risk management including face-to-face contact and field inspections
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to both internal and external customers
  • Skilled in designing and delivering presentations to a variety of large and small groups
  • Working knowledge of loss control standards and industry best practices
  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff, members and other groups and individuals
  • Ability to make effective decisions and to act independently in managing and coordinating assigned duties
  • Ability to juggle competing demands between long-term projects and emergent needs
  • Skilled at leading and managing projects
  • Ability to meet deadlines and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Ability to model the organization’s high standards of quality customer service to all internal and external customers
  • Knowledge of basic math, accounting and finance practices
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Professional and have the ability to learn and use a wide variety of proprietary software
