The Opportunity: Financial Analyst The Alderwood Water & Wastewater District (AWWD) is seeking a full-time flexible and adaptable Financial Analyst for its Administration, Technology & Finance Department. Located in the fast-growing Puget Sound region, AWWD is focused on the expansion, maintenance, and replacement of its critical infrastructure. AWWD currently employs 148 employees and the Financial Analyst will gather, analyze, interpret, forecast, and maintain financial data for the District under the direction of the Finance Manager. This position reports to the Finance Manager but may take direction from the Finance Director.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the budget amendment process, formulating final budget documents, forecasting operating expenses and revenues, rate setting process for wholesale customers. The Financial Analyst will also be responsible for developing financial reports, financial models, cost analyses, cash flow projections and Performing special projects as assigned. The Financial Analyst needs to be committed to ensuring that the District follows the general accounting principles as per the Governmental Accounting Standards Board, and state and local regulations, policies, and procedures. The ideal Financial Analyst is technically proficient in budgeting, financial reporting, and financial reporting systems. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator who can build trust with their work group to develop and maintain positive and productive relationships and achieve results. Candidate should have a commitment to community and teamwork. Our ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical and problem-solving skills and will be expected to facilitate a variety of processes. The successful candidate will have the functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint. They may possess any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be three to five years progressively responsible experience in accounting or finance performing analytical tasks and projects, and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, Planning, or a related field. Knowledge of, and experience in, water and wastewater systems and municipal financial experience are desirable. The pay range for this position is $78,540 - $105,264 annually, with a starting pay range of $78,540 - $90,924 dependent upon experience and qualifications.
