Unlike retail or food service positions, we offer fixed schedules will not vary from week to week, plus full-time hours through the summer! Do you enjoy working outdoors, sprucing up grass and landscaping in parks and playgrounds; or helping the Public Works crew keep streets and surface water management running smoothly? Looking for seasonal employment? If you do, one of these temporary jobs may be just what you want. The temporary worker typically works five months or less between May and September based off of candidate availability. There are two positions available (one in each division): About City of Lake Stevens Lake Stevens is generally a residential community with access to numerous commercial, retail and recreational opportunities. Of course, the crown jewel of the community is the lake itself, which boasts some of the greatest water recreational opportunities in the county. Lake Stevens is also uniquely situated, being close to the lake, ocean, and Cascade mountains, to take advantage of many outdoor activities. The Lake Stevens Schools are excellent and coupled with a city priority of parks and increased walkability, makes Lake Stevens an ideal place to raise a family. The employee frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time and type on a keyboard for extended periods of time. The employee is constantly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus. Work is primarily performed outdoors, subject to travelling by City vehicle from site to site several times each day. While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; regularly works in outside weather conditions, and exposed to changing weather conditions such as rain and sun; and regularly works in and heavy vehicle traffic areas on urban streets; or public areas such as parks, recreation areas, docks, and boating areas. The incumbent is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration and frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The incumbent is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to very loud while operating machinery or working near equipment. May also be required to work on weekends, evenings, and holidays. Must be able to operate standard size pick-up and/or sedans with standard hand and foot controls.
