The Planning Department is responding to the growing needs of the City, consider joining our team as an Engineering Supervisor. The talent you bring will help us:
- Supervise a staff of engineers, technicians, inspectors, or other professional and technical staff within a departmental division.
- Assist with the hiring process and be responsible for performance planning and review of assigned staff.
- Provide leadership, oversight and performance feedback to staff to ensure established service and productivity levels are achieved.
- Establish/review work procedures, processes and policies for best practices, operational efficiency and administrative compliance.
- Participate in the assessment of knowledge/skill/ability of staff; develop appropriate training requirements and guidelines for professional development.
- Monitor changes in laws, regulations and technology that may affect departmental operations; assists on policy, code, and standard changes/updates, implements policy and procedural changes after approval.
- Participate on a variety of interdisciplinary committees and commissions and represents the City on engineering issues to a variety of community and stakeholder groups.
- Prepare or review project plans and specifications, analyze project requirements, physical location, and other pertinent data; assure that project designs are in compliance with a variety of state, federal, and city laws, codes, ordinances, and regulations.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Seven (7) years engineering experience which includes three years of project administration and management responsibilities. Former supervisory experience preferred.
- Or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certificates:
- Supervising Engineer requires a Professional Engineer's License.
- Valid Washington State Driver's License and a driving record that meets city standards.
