The Opportunity: Lead Facilities Mechanic The Alderwood Water & Wastewater District (AWWD) is seeking a full-time Lead Facilities Mechanic for our Maintenance and Operations Department. Located in the fast-growing Puget Sound region, AWWD is focused on the expansion, maintenance, and replacement of its critical infrastructure. AWWD currently employs 147 employees and the Lead Facilities Mechanic is responsible for leading, scheduling, training, assigning and performing corrective and preventative maintenance on mechanical and hydraulic equipment at the District’s office buildings and water/sewer operation facilities including lift stations, mini lift stations and pump stations. The successful candidate will be responsible for determining required equipment and materials to complete mechanical related work orders and ensuring the proper equipment, materials and staff are assembled to complete work. This individual will also assess the conditions of work areas and assist staff when needed in determining proper layout and approach for safe work. Directing activities of staff, training staff on proper techniques and assigning tasks will be essential functions. The Lead Facilities Mechanic will help to identify and make staff aware of hazardous conditions and instruct staff regarding safety practices along with working with contractors and vendors to coordinate and completed contracted work related to maintenance. This position also requires the employee to conduct and document safety meetings when necessary, fill out incident/accident reports, complete work orders and daily logs within the District’s CMMS system and purchase goods used in the maintenance and repair of facilities. The ideal candidate will possess any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge and abilities required to perform the job. This individual should have five years of mechanical experience and two years of related schooling or technical training. The Lead Facilities Mechanic must possess and maintain a valid Washington State Driver’s License with Commercial Driver’s License Class A with tanker and air brake endorsement, an industrial First Aid/CPR card, flagger card, fork lift certification, confined space entry, shoring and trenching and certified erosion and sediment control lead. Must also possess or have the ability to obtain within one year a Water Distribution Manager II certification, a Wastewater Collections II certification and a Cross Connection Specialist certification. The pay range for this position is $69,909 - $93,662 annually, with a starting pay range of $69,909 - $80,912 dependent upon experience and qualifications.
