The Opportunity: Lakewood Water District has an immediate opening for an experienced Engineering Manager. The engineering function is being brought in-house and this will be an exciting opportunity to develop the department. The District is seeking a qualified and motivated individual with excellent engineering and leadership skills to take on this key role in our management team. The District: The Lakewood Water District mission is to provide its customers with water service that meets or exceeds all water quality standards, maintaining policies and practices that benefit the health and welfare of the community. Formed in 1943, the District currently owns and operates 256 miles of water mains, 13 water tanks, 32 wells, six water treatment facilities, and serves more than 60,000 retail customers in Lakewood, WA and 55,000 wholesale customers. The Details: Job Title: Engineering Manager Job Summary: The Engineering Manager will be responsible for the development and management of engineering activities and operations relating to the planning, design, and construction management of improvements to the District’s water distribution, storage, and treatment systems. The scope of responsibilities includes management of capital improvements, developer extensions, major rehabilitations, and emergency response repair. This position will also administer consultant contracts and manage consultants during design and construction. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for the development and maintenance of engineering standards and policies and will participate in the overall planning and management of the District as a member of the management team. This position will provide work assignments, instruction, and supervision to the GIS Coordinator, Construction Inspector, and other personnel as assigned. Education and Experience: Current Washington State Professional Civil Engineering license and a valid Washington State driver’s license required. 7-10 years of professional engineering experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job. Water utility experience, managing both CIP and DE projects, strongly preferred.
