The Assistant Vehicle Maintenance Manager reports to the Vehicle Maintenance Manager and has the responsibility and authority for decision making and control of daily operations in assigned areas of the Vehicle Maintenance Division. Supervises the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment. Monitors and analyzes individual and division performance to ensure compliance with Company and government regulations. Assist in the development of the division's budget. Monitors and authorizes expenditures. Develops and modifies division policies and procedures. Hires, counsels, and disciplines employees. Monitors vendor performance, negotiates and resolves identified discrepancies. Creates work schedules and assignments. Establishes policy and procedures for Vehicle Maintenance activities. Minimum Qualifications 1. Associate's Degree or two years of technical/vocational training in fleet maintenance. 2. Demonstrated mechanical ability (journey level mechanic desirable) and three years of increasingly responsible fleet maintenance experience. 3. Three years of general supervisory (lead) and management experience directly supervising union employees. 4. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as those listed above.
