ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Traffic Operations Safety and Engineering is looking to fill a Traffic Signal Technician position. We are looking for skilled applicants with experience installing and maintaining streetlighting and active traffic control devices. The successful candidate will enjoy working independently, as well as, working with a team. They will be required to work closely with engineers, contractors, and other divisions of the Public Works department.

Responsibilities relating to the City's traffic signal system will include:
• Install, test, and maintain numerous types of active traffic control devices and street light equipment;
• Assist in the implementation and maintenance of Intelligent Transportation Systems;
• Work closely with engineers to advise contractors, inspectors and designers;
• Respond to emergency call back to direct or perform emergency repairs as needed;
• Document procedures, maintain recrods and prepare written reports using Lucity asset management, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
• Maintain and update safety procedures;
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalency
• 2 years experience in maintenance and repair of traffic signal/lighting and/or electrical/electronics systems.
Licenses and Certificates
• Valid Washington State Driver's License and a driving record that meets city standards. Remain insurable by the City.
• CDL within one year of date of hire
• International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level I traffic signal technician certification within one year of date of hire;
• IMSA Level II required within 2 years of hire
• This position is currently covered by AFSCME.
