Description

JOIN REDMOND!:

The Senior Planner will be part of the Development Review Division team in the Planning and Community Development Department. This position manages a wide variety of urban planning projects including complex redevelopments in urban areas, TOD, design review, master plans, and development agreements. The successful candidate will provide strong leadership, project management, communication and interpersonal skills and will work collaboratively with other staff, the community, stakeholders and elected officials to help realize Redmond's vision.

The senior planner acts as a resource to planners and assistant planners. We’re looking for a results oriented self-motivator to help collaborate with developers and the public to develop innovative and code-compliant projects. ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position working Monday through Friday; Serve as a project manager for a variety of land use permits, prepare staff reports and present recommendations; Review, process and work with land use applicants/developers to ensure compliance with the Redmond Zoning Code, the Redmond Comprehensive Plan, and other applicable codes and regulations; Staff and coordinate meetings for commissions, boards, adjust and prepare schedules, agenda material for discussion and work effectively with commission and board members; May review and evaluate work, products, processes and methods of consultants including monitoring contracts; May assist department management in budget development and resources allocation for the biennium process and assist in formation of department goals and work programs; Review complex land use applications & design issues and organize the work to meet critical deadlines; Coordinate and communicate with internal departments, external agencies and the applicant to resolve issues and make changes in the project application to ensure compliance to standards and submittal requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES:

Bachelor's degree in urban planning, urban design and development, architecture, landscape architecture, geography, environmental science, natural resources management, transportation, public policy, engineering or related discipline. Master's degree preferred. Four (4) to six (6) years of professional experience in the above fields; or any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Washington State driver’s license that meets City standards. This position is currently covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
