Description

The Community Planning and Development Department is seeking one exceptional professional to join the City’s Downtown Ambassador Program. Successful candidates will display three keys to success as they represent the City: Be customer service oriented, be a respectful communicator at all times to the public and to coworkers, and effectively and efficiently do the work they are responsible for. Ambassadors are responsible for representing the City as they work downtown, greeting people, providing answers to questions, giving general information about Olympia, and directing citizens to a wide variety of resources.

This is a Full-time benefited Project Funded position and will last until December 31, 2020 or the project funds are spent.

The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Be a dynamic, dependable, highly visible part of our downtown service delivery system.
• Represent the City of Olympia with a positive attitude of helpfulness, courteousness and professionalism.
• Greet visitors and citizens with a smile and help answer questions and point people to resources.
• Provide street outreach that includes building relationships with people experiencing homelessness and referrals to social services.
• Provide and respond to dispatch calls from businesses in need of de-escalation services.
• Work well as part of a team and build good working relationships with other workgroups and City Departments.
• Utilize a computer to perform basic administrative work related to the program.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
