Why It's a Great Opportunity: This position provides a senior Planner the opportunity to support the Pierce County Sewer Division by leading/planning tasks and programs. You will play an integral role in writing complex plans, studies and briefing papers. You will also convene collaboration meetings, prepare and give presentations, work with government panels, and manage consultant contracts to oversee preparation of plans and reports. This position offers ample opportunity for diverse and important work as it relates to Sewer infrastructure and water system receiverships and how these systems support the greater Pierce County community. How to be Successful in the Role: This position requires you to establish strong working relationships with County staff, elected officials, and internal and external stakeholder groups. Previous experience in drafting ordinances, documents, reports, and findings of facts in "Plain Talk" utility planning is preferred. Our other successful Planner 3's have the ability to be given a work assignment and pull together the relevant information and create a work program for how they will accomplish the project (scalable to the size of the project). They are also able to meet deadlines and work collaboratively with other staff to accomplish their goals. Throughout the training process you will meet with your supervisor regularly to set expectations and goals for yourself, review key work program tasks and achievements, and introduce you to the current policies and procedures, technology, and Pierce County Code.
