Description

Association of Washington Cities (AWC) is recruiting for a full-time Membership Coordinator for the AWC Risk Management Service Agency to join our dynamic and fast-paced team. The top candidate will be highly organized and detail oriented.

What you'll be doing

  • Under the direction of the Program Manager, act as the RMSA member services contact for current members. Answer general questions and direct issues/concerns to the appropriate staff member or Program Manager
  • Coordinate updates of content for the program’s member communication and program promotion materials, including website, newsletters, brochures, and member resources
  • Coordinate member training programs, in cooperation with loss prevention personnel
  • Assist Program Manager with securing various coverages including liability, property, crime, aviation, notary bonds, special events, builder’s risk, and other coverage and policies
  • Coordinate the scheduling and preparation of documents for Board meetings, Operating Committee meetings
  • Coordinate the scheduling and preparation of documents, meeting space, and reserving technical equipment for Annual meetings and conferences, including the RMSA Annual Meeting & Dinner
  • Report to Operating Committee, Board of Directors, and other committees and groups as needed, relative to various membership processes
  • Participate in and coordinate new in-person member/official orientations, providing program materials and overview
  • Assist with providing coverage documents and policies annually to the members
  • Administer and coordinate annual renewals, including preparing and sending RMSA’s Annual Renewal Survey, inventories, and other underwriting information and documents
  • Assist with coordinating the State Audit, Claims Audits, and State Risk Manager reports

What you bring to the team

  • Bachelor’s degree in insurance, business, or related field preferred experience may be substituted year-for-year for academic achievement
  • 5 years of experience working in a professional office setting providing customer service and conducting administrative operations
  • 3 years of experience working in the fields of property and liability insurance, risk management, loss prevention, claims handling, or public sector
  • Designations and certifications in claims and risk management preferred but not required
  • Ability to model the organization’s high standards of quality customer service to all internal and external customers
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to articulate clearly both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to meet deadlines and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • General knowledge of risk management practices, particularly the interrelationship between loss control and claims
  • General knowledge of local government operations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Professional and have the ability to learn and use a wide variety of proprietary software
  • Extensive knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic, apply percentages, and determine loss amount
  • Ability to juggle competing demands between long-term projects and emergent needs
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to be flexible and open to changing priorities and managing multiple tasks simultaneously within compressed timeframes
  • Demonstrated punctual, regular and reliable attendance
