Essential Job Duties
- Provides excellent internal and external customer service by clearly conveying information, explaining policies and effectively answering questions and addressing concerns.
- Serves as front desk reception. Answers telephones, assists the public, screens complaints, responds to requests and refers complex issues to appropriate personnel.
- Performs specialized clerical support services to provide timely and accurate information to the public including research on records, logs, court documents and materials.
- Adheres to federal, state and local laws and follows department policies and procedures.
- Organizes and maintains accurate databases, files, records and other documents.
- Performs data entry and conducts information searches as allowed by law to provide information to appropriate parties on criminal history background checks, security clearances, missing persons, stolen and impounded vehicles, vessels, warrants, weapons, pawn sheets and other property.
- Assists in entering police incident reports into the automated records system.
- Collects fees for infractions, parking citations and parking permits, including overdue fees.
- Prepares, audits and processes daily deposits.
- Performs property and evidence identification and inventory control.
- Attends to security tools which monitor incoming calls, facility doors and cameras.
- Performs fingerprinting services.
- Prepares, compiles and disseminates correspondence, reports or other documents, keeping others adequately informed.
- Maintains current desk procedures and tasks to explain position responsibilities.
- Creates, updates and implements process improvement procedures, tasks, workflows and systems
Qualification Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two (2) years of office clerical experience involving regular public interaction. Law enforcement support experience in records, courts, dispatch, prosecutor or other related function preferred.
- Bilingual, English and Spanish, language abilities desired.
- Must possess a current Washington State Driver License and maintain throughout employment.
- Driver Abstract that meets criteria set by our insurance company.
- Criminal history background check that meets established criteria.
- Successful completion of a polygraph examination that meets established criteria.
- Must obtain the WA State Patrol ACCESS (A Central Computerized Enforcement Service System) II certification within six (6) months of hire and maintain throughout employment.

In addition to the Wenatchee Police Department, other services provided include Public Works, Community Development, Economic Development, Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services, and Finance. The City operates under a Strong Mayor form of government with seven council members serving at large. Active boards and commissions advise the City Council with governance.

Furthermore, the city is only 30 minutes from the renowned resort towns of Leavenworth and Lake Chelan. For those desiring occasional amenities of major metropolitan areas, Seattle is a short scenic 3 hour drive or 30 minute flight away making Wenatchee very attractive to many people and families relocating from the Puget Sound area.
