Description

This position will oversee the development of a Redmond Sustainability City Plan that will document City's current sustainability programs and efforts and identify opportunities to advance the integration of sustainable practices into the overall organization.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Promote public awareness and community involvement in sustainability programs through educational and training programs, and publicationsMonitor, evaluate, and recommend changes to plans, policies, and procedures to achieve goals and objective in the Redmond Sustainability Plan Compile and maintain records, reports, and statistical information on sustainability program performanceResearch funding sources and write grant proposals and applications, develop work plans and budgets, prepare and administer contractsRespond to customer questions and complaints through researching and reporting on program issues and concernsCoordinate ongoing training and development of city staff to improve service delivery and effectiveness of programsRecruit and oversee program volunteers and participantsKeeps abreast of emerging trends, innovative practices, and changes to legislative and technical developments in the field of sustainability and in GHG reduction

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in environmental science, communications or business or public administration, and three years of experience in sustainability programs or natural resource management and related public relations experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer experience working on sustainability issues with local, state or federal government.Prefer possession of a valid LEED AP Certificate from U.S. Green Building Council, and/or Environmental Sustainability Professional Certificate from Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure.Prefer training in Environmental Sustainability from accredited professional organization.
