Accounting Technician job in Puyallup

The City of Puyallup is accepting applications for an Accounting Technician position. The priority application date is February 14, 2020.

General Job Duties:

Employees in this classification are responsible for technical accounting work in maintaining the City's financial books and records, and coordinating City purchases. Duties include the more technical or complex aspects of financial record keeping and processing that occasionally require judgment not  covered by accepted standards or routines. Close attention to work is required to prevent errors. Employees have routine contact with other employees and occasional contact with the public. Work is performed in an office setting.

This is an Accounts Receivable position, with essential tasks to include:

• Maintains all checking accounts;
• Posts cash receipts; processes payments of debt service;
• Invests surplus funds;
• Maintains inventory of investments;
• Reconciles cash; prepares daily bank deposits;
• Acts as custodian for subsidiary accounts;
• Reconciles investments to the General Ledger;
• Performs other duties as assigned.
