City Engineer job in Maple Valley

The City Engineer is a challenging and rewarding position offering a unique opportunity for professional growth as the leader of a very dynamic work group.

This position, under the direction of the Public Works/Community Development Director, will supervise City project managers and construction staff and will be responsible for the development and implementation of the City’s 6-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP) as well as the management of specific projects.

The City Engineer will assist the Public Works and Community Development Departments in determining and implementing public improvements necessary to meet the goals and policies of the City’s Comprehensive Plan, environmental requirements and engineering standards, and will also be responsible for certain aspects of traffic engineering, surface water management and transportation planning. This position builds and maintains good working relationships with other department staff, Community, Regional, State and Federal partners.

Education & Experience

The successful candidate should have:

*Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited university in Civil, Environmental or Related Engineering Degree
*Washington State PE registration, or ability to obtain registration within one (1) year if licensed in another state
*Minimum of five (5) years of Public Works experience with demonstrated project management experience in a governmental and/or private sector setting
*Design and capital project/program management experience
*Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience preferred

$98,384—$124,486 Salary + $10,000 bonus upon successful completion of a probationary period
