ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Read residential and commercial water meters using manual read, touch read, and radio read according to a prescribed schedule
• Transmit meter reading results to Utility Billing Office using specialized computer software
• Perform routine maintenance and repair work on meters
• Disconnect and reconnect utility service according to laws, ordinances and established procedures
• Able to accurate use computers, hand held electronic reading devices and water meter reading software applications
• Use tools and equipment necessary for locating, maintaining and repairing meters
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Operate electronic equipment, devices and hand tools used in meter reading
• Respond to customer inquiries and complaints and independently take action to resolve those inquiries and complaints while maintaining good public relations

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalency
• Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
