Application deadline: Monday, November 18, 2019.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a dynamic, forward-thinking transportation planning leader to shape the future of a thriving transit agency that is committed to strategic growth. Community Transit is in expansion mode with a firm milestone deadline of 2024 to prepare for the arrival of the regional rail system, redesign of the fixed-route transportation network, connect to Link light rail and modernize the Agency operating facilities. The new Director of Planning and Development will play a critical leadership role in maintaining current momentum and keeping all planning and capital programs on plan.

Puget Sound is one of the most vibrant and fastest-growing regions in the country, and Snohomish County is home to two of the ten fastest growing cities in the region. Dubbed Seattle Backcountry by the Tourism Bureau, Snohomish County has everything for the lover of the great outdoors - who also wants culture, arts, locally sourced food, shopping and great dining. Spanning from the Cascade Mountains to Puget Sound, the county offers a variety of recreational options.

The ideal candidate is an accomplished strategic leader with public transportation planning experience at a management level and a long-term pattern of progressively higher responsibilities and success in accomplishing goals and managing capital programs. Equally important is social and emotional intelligence and the ability to integrate well with the Executive Leadership Team and external stakeholders and effectively lead, motivate, and develop assigned staff.
