The Olympia Public Works Department, Water Resources division, seeks a qualified individual to fill the position of Water Resources Engineer I. The selected individual will be responsible for performing professional engineering work under the general direction of professional engineers within the context of utility-based water resource management.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Bring a knowledge of municipal utility infrastructure, Western Washington stormwater regulations, low impact development practices, and a desire to learn more.
- Appreciate working with multiple utilities and various staff members in a team and collaboration centered environment.
- Competent in written and verbal communications with various audiences, including the ability to explain technical concepts in a concise manner.
- Skilled at determining a way to move forward.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- Comfortable working with spreadsheets, graphics, databases, word processing, project management software and operating various engineering specific computer programs such as WWHM2012, SWMM, AutoCAD and ArcMap.
- Skilled in fostering relationships within the agency and community.
- Ability to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Ability to apply urban environmental management practices and principles.
Experience/Education
- Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in Civil Engineering and one year of civil engineering experience required.
- Additional experience in civil engineering may be substituted for the college degree with one-year experience being equal to one year of college education.
- Professional Engineers License not required.
Special Requirements
Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License at the time of appointment.
