Description

Association of Washington Cities (AWC) is recruiting for a full-time Applications and Data Analyst to join our dynamic and fast-paced team. The top candidate will be highly motivated and detail oriented with strong customer service skills.

What you'll be doing

  • Provide operational assistance for the organization through maintenance of data in the AMS and other software
  • Fulfill requests for data from internal and external customers using various software, including in-house applications
  • Assist in the design, delivery, and improvement of in-house software applications
  • Develop and interpret technical documentation for training and end user procedures
  • Develop and deliver training to end users and members about how to use various types of software and web applications efficiently and effectively in support of business objectives
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to analyze, map, and document various business processes to enhance usability across systems
  • Assume a number of different roles when assigned to work with a larger project team including but not limited to business analyst, project manager, or participant
  • Maintain organizational data dictionary and recommend annual updates to the data management strategy
  • Communicate system changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements – verbally or through written documentation – to project managers, sponsors, and other stakeholders so that issues and solutions are understood
  • Develop and maintain training materials and user guides for the organization’s AMS
  • Provide hands-on customer support for system trouble shooting; this may include supporting external customers by phone, email, or other communication
  • Complete other duties as assigned or self-initiative with supervisor approval

What you bring to the team

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in computer science, business administration, or a related field. Experience may be substituted year-for-year for academic achievement
  • 4 years of related work experience
  • Strong understanding of database structures, theories, and principles
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue resolution techniques
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws, including Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
  • Ability to create and monitor systematic and consistent requirement specifications in both technical and user-friendly language
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail, including data entry
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Professional with the ability to learn and use a wide variety of proprietary software
  • Ability to model the organization’s high standards of quality customer service to all internal and external customers
  • Ability to develop and interpret technical documentation for training and end user procedures
  • Ability to establish credibility and manage confidential and time sensitive material
  • Ability to perform queries that yield the desired result
  • Ability to juggle competing demands between long-term projects and emergent needs
  • Ability to organize and work independently on multiple tasks/projects, complete assignments within specified deadlines, and work well under pressure.
  • Must be a team player who enjoys working with a diverse audience of internal and external customers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in problem solving with other people
