Tukwila is a city with 9.6 square miles of opportunity and a dynamic place to work. The population is 19,765 at night and up to 150,000+ during the day. Tukwila shares borders with the Cities of Seattle, Renton, SeaTac, Burien, and Kent. It is easily accessed by I-5 and I-405 or via either of Tukwila's two train stations, the Sounder Station or the Sound Transit Light Rail Station.

Tukwila Projects
The City of Tukwila is growing at a fast pace and currently has serval large projects such as:

• Tukwila School District is remodeling several buildings including Foster High Expansion and several other extensive remodels and additions.
• Tukwila Village Building B 5-Story, 125 Apartments and 120 Space Parking Garage, Building A 6-Story, 80 Apartments and 85 Space Parking Garage, both with live-work units and commercial shell tenant space.
• City of Tukwila New Justice Center and two new fire stations [Fire Station 51 and Fire Station 52], extensive remodels of several buildings including City Hall.
• Element by Westin 5-Story, 177 room Hotel, Tru By Hilton 5-Story 92 room Hotel, Quail Park 3-Story, 174,000 square foot, Senior Housing.
• Ongoing permit applications from Westfield Southcenter Mall, and numerous manufacturing companies such as Boeing Aircraft, keep building division staff active.
• Tukwila South has approximately 240 acres of undeveloped commercial land.

 
The Building Division Team
The building division consists of two Plans Examiners, three Code Enforcement Officers, two Building Inspectors, one Administrative Support Technician, one Electrical Inspector, and one Building Official.

The Building Inspector III performs inspections on residential, multi family, commercial and industrial buildings in the process of construction, alteration, or repair for compliance with applicable codes, and ordinances.

This position is represented by the Teamsters Local Union #763.

Hiring Salary Range: $5816.00 - $7069.00 per month, plus excellent benefits.
