POSITION SUMMARY

Working as a part of a five person financial unit and under the direction of the SCORE Accounting Manager, this position is solely responsible for all parts of payroll for a 24/7 Jail. Coordinate work with Human Resources and interact with other departments to produce an accurate and timely payroll with minimal supervision. The payroll work is complex and requires an attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and within time constraints.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

• Payroll Related: Responsible for all functions related to payroll including maintenance of the payroll module; complex processing of payroll items such as shift pay, merit pay, leave accruals, union dues, benefits, taxes, retirement, and garnishments. Responsible for review and reconciliation of time data submitted by all staff. Calculate data and report retirement, federal and state taxes, and other payroll deductions to various entities as required. Preparation and filing of forms W-2 and 1095. Responsible for providing responses to questions that may require research and problem solving skills. Perform various reconciliations for payroll items and within internal systems. Ensure all system processes that relate to pay are updated in a timely manner. Comply with applicable laws, policies, and labor agreements. Ensure that policies and procedures are maintained and updated regularly. Implement the results of labor contract negotiations to assure all agency contractual obligations are accurately applied and executed. Use SCORE software programs to generate special reports.
• General: Communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing. Assist with equipment inventory for financial reporting purposes. Assist in other areas of the financial unit as needed and for backup purposes. Maintain reliable and punctual attendance.

REQUIREMENTS

Any combination equivalent to: AA degree and 3 years of payroll experience. Payroll experience in the public sector is preferred. Additional education may substitute for up to one year of required experience.
