SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY (SAOR): Works under general direction to perform a variety of accounting functions to maintain and produce monthly accounting reports/records. Assists in treasury functions, the preparation of annual financial statements, State tax audits, and annual audit performed by the State Auditor’s Office. Ensures compliance with GAAP/GASB, established procedures, practices, tax laws, and regulations. Prepares monthly and annual required tax reports. Prepares payroll (including but not limited to DRS input and reporting, quarterly filings, data input, tax deposits, system updating, etc.). Reconciles all revolving and cash funds. Files King County payment vouchers and disbursement warrants. Reconciles utility billing sub-ledger to accounting system. Maintains general ledger and fixed asset sub-ledger. Maintains and releases cash performance, maintenance, and surety bonds. Maintains employee awards record. Provides customer service assistance to Administrative Specialists during lunch hours or periods of staffing shortages. Occasionally assists the Administrative Specialist-Lead with Account Payable. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: • Reconciliation of cash accounts (depository, petty cash, travel, payroll) and revolving funds. • Complete understanding of the accounting and financial reporting requirements of a water and sewer district. Experience/Education: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent degree required. Licensing Requirements: • Valid Washington State Driver’s License. Other Requirements: Reliable and regular attendance, and the ability to work harmoniously with other employees. WORKING CONDITIONS: Most work is performed in a typical office environment and some outdoors. Driving may be required. Nights and odd hours in response to emergencies may be required. This position typically requires: fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
