The Public Works Capital Division is a full-service engineering unit. The division designs, permits, acquires right-of-way and constructs public works projects for the City of Bothell. Capital Division team members work on a variety of transportation projects including road improvements, bridges, sidewalks, and bicycle facilities. They also work on stormwater, water, and sewer system projects such as pipe distribution upgrades, storage tanks, lift stations, pump stations, and fish passage culverts. The Capital Division has also restored streams and wetlands, built trails, and cleaned-up contaminated soil and groundwater. Capital Division team members at the City typically serve as project managers from conception through construction on projects and, therefore, manage consultants as well as contractors. They have the ability to perform engineering analysis and design including the review of engineering work by others. Further, they work in the field during design and construction to ensure the highest quality product. Capital Division team members coordinate projects with multiple constituents and stakeholders. So, in addition to engineering skills, they use their communication skills to effectively facilitate optimal project outcomes and their business skills to ensure that projects move forward in a timely, cost-efficient manner. |
