Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP) Manager job in Puyallup

The City of Puyallup is accepting applications for its Water Pollution Control Plant Manager position.  This is an open continuous job posting with a priority application date of April 14, 2020.

This is an experienced managerial and technical position at Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP) within the City's Public Works Department. In addition to management skills, this position requires specialized knowledge of the technology, practices, and methods of wastewater treatment plant operation and maintenance. It also requires knowledge of fundamental wastewater engineering principles, specialized wastewater equipment and applications, and an ability to troubleshoot process and equipment problems.

The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure that the treatment plant and all sanitary sewer pumping stations operate each and every day year-round in compliance with the requirements of Puyallup's wastewater NPDES permit.  This position requires considerable independent judgment based on training, education, and operational experience.

There are greater than twenty remote sanitary pumping stations; five remote storm water pumping stations, three off-site decommissioned landfill gas control systems; a certified wastewater testing laboratory; and, a federally approved Industrial Pretreatment Program. Failure to act with due diligence has the potential to endanger public health, safety, or the environment and otherwise subject the City to penalties. The incumbent must also be comfortable and capable of working in a heavy civil construction environment involving heavy equipment, open excavations, and multiple hazards.

Salary is $88,008 - $112,656 Annually.
