Description

Association of Washington Cities (AWC) is recruiting for a Legislative Policy Analyst to join our dynamic and fast-paced Government Relations team. The incumbent must be a highly-motivated individual, a problem solver, and capable of creative problem solving.

What you will be doing

  • Conducting research and analysis in subject areas under review or consideration by the legislature and state agencies.
  • Review and summarize information about legislation and its impacts on cities.
  • Writing and editing articles, fact sheets, research reports, and technical information for print and electronic publications.
  • Responding to inquiries from Association members, and state agency and legislative staff regarding subject matter issues.
  • Collaborating with the team to plan, organize, and implement projects, workshops/conferences and organization committee meetings.
  • Establishing and maintaining subject area relationships with members, affiliated groups, state agency and legislative staff.

What you bring to the team

  • Ability to quickly conduct research and analysis and convey information to a specific audience.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Local government, state agency, and/or legislative experience.
  • Ability to plan and organize multiple diverse work tasks, meet deadlines and complete assigned tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Make effective decisions and act independently in handling and coordinating assigned duties.
  • Bachelor's degree in political science, public administration, Master's degree preferred.
