Description

Hiring for Six Positions:

6 Months; Varied hours including evenings; weekends; holidays; 40 hours per week.

Open until filled, but priority will be given to applications received immediately. By applying to this position your application will also be considered for Public Works Seasonal Maintenance Worker position.

Duties: This position performs semi-skilled, manual work and small equipment operation in the maintenance of City Parks.

Maintain parks grounds and right-of-ways, including picking-up litter, trash and debris.
Trimming, weeding and pruning landscaped areas.
Watering grounds and various areas by hand.
Helping prepare and fertilize beds; plant lawns, trees, shrubs, hedges and flowers.
Preparing and laying out playing fields including dragging, lining and setting bases.
Cleaning restrooms, emptying trash containers, washing windows, sweeping and mopping floors, changing light bulbs.
Painting and making minor building repairs.
Operating push mowers, edger's, weed eaters, blowers, rakes, brooms, shovels, hoes and other related grounds maintenance tools and equipment.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED.
Previous experience in seasonal parks or public works maintenance desired.

Licenses and Other Requirements:
A Valid Washington State Driver's License with good driving record is required. Applicants must provide a three (3) year driving record abstract prior to hire.
Successful applicants must be able to pass a physical exam and provide their own steel-toed safety boots.
A combination of experience and training that provides the candidate with the knowledge and skills to perform the job will be considered.
