Parks Maintenance Worker I job in Maple Valley

Under the supervision of the Parks Maintenance Worker III (Parks Lead), this position will able to perform a variety of semi-skilled duties in the maintenance, repair and construction of park and open space facilities, landscape maintenance and vegetation control, and set-up and removal of equipment for events. The Parks Maintenance Worker I must be able to demonstrate the proper and safe operation of a variety of light and medium duty vehicles, specialized equipment and hand/power tools and other duties as assigned.

In addition to other job responsibilities, this position will:
• Maintain park grounds including trash and debris pickup
• Perform vegetation control using hand, power, and riding machinery as well as the application of chemicals
• Assist in planting, pruning and maintenance of trees, shrubs, and other vegetation
• Clean picnic shelters, restrooms and stock supplies
• Operate department vehicles in a proper and safe manner to transport personnel, materials, and miscellaneous equipment
• Assist in the set-up and breakdown of equipment for recreation events including stage, tents, tables and chairs
• Perform routine maintenance and repair to equipment and vehicles including filters, hoses, oil, and other fluid levels
• Prepare athletic fields including but not limited to watering, dragging, lining and setting bases
• Assist in job site clean-up

• Perform a variety of responsible duties in the maintenance, repair of parks facilities
• Operate, service and make minor repairs to tools and equipment used in park maintenance work
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public
• Demonstrated ability to positively and effectively interact with diverse individuals to accomplish a common goal
• Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and any experience in municipal park maintenance, landscaping, repair, or construction field (preferred)

This position is FLSA non-exempt and is eligible for over-time compensation.
