City of Glendale, Arizona Assistant City Manager With an estimated population of nearly 250,000, Glendale is the 6th largest city in the state of Arizona and is located in Maricopa County. This big city has the heart of a small town that enjoys 300 days of sunshine each year with an average annual temperature high of 85 degrees and a low of 67 degrees. The City is seeking an Assistant City Manager to oversee roughly half of the city’s departments. Desired skillsets and areas of experience will primarily be focused in the areas of community services, budget and finance, technology, parks and recreation, and special events. To continue the forward momentum of the City’s Balanced Scorecard Strategy Map, the Assistant City Manager will focus on scoping and executing specific city-wide initiatives designed to improve performance. Candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration or a closely related field and ten years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a municipal government organization with five of those years being in a municipal management position. A Master’s degree is desirable and any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
