Description

Under the general direction of the Community & Employee Engagement Manager, perform internal and external communications, economic development, marketing, tourism, advertising, design and public relations work for the City. As a brand ambassador for Fife, they will establish effective marketing and communication plans that continually reinforce the direction of the City. This position will also assist the team with special events, employee engagement and special projects. The work requires organizational, communications, computer, administrative, media and public relations skills. Serves as primary staff support for the Public Arts Commission.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Assist with implementing the marketing objectives of the City of Fife.
Implement communications plan for the City of Fife.
Create and design a wide range of communications and marketing materials for City Manager, all departments, City Council and external consumption.
Research, create written content, produce graphic layouts and coordinate the production of public and employee communications products including news releases, social media messaging, newsletters, brochures, television stories, talking point development and exhibits.
Design, market and enhance the City's public image and visibility in the region; encourage citizen participation in the City's programs.
Create visual concepts to communicate ideas that inspire and inform.
Work with current businesses for retention and expansion.
Recruit and facilitate new businesses into the City of Fife.
Assist in developing annual city-wide marketing plan within established procedures for city approval.
Create, implement and manage city-wide social media strategies.
Content manager for the City website.
Exercise control over specific advertising placement.
Work directly with local Hoteliers to promote increased overnight stays, increase public safety and encourage redevelopment.
Work with City departments and carry out objectives of Public Arts Commission.
Serve the Fife Public Arts Commission with policy implementation, project management, budget management and meeting support.
Work directly with the sales directors of large hotels to develop programs and entice tour operators and conventions to the region.
Work directly with media of all kinds to develop editorial placements to benefit the tourism draw to the community.
Develop and place advertising in appropriate publications and develop a yearly plan for investing advertising and marketing expenditures.
Assist with special event planning and implementation.
Prepare information, facilitate meetings and give presentations to both internal and external customers.
Provide information for the tourism website.
Fulfill tourist-related requests for additional information.
Assist with special projects as directed.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism or closely related field
Minimum three to five years of experience in Communications and Marketing or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Valid Driver's License.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working in a communications related position within the public sector
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat Pro, Canva

(Must obtain within 6 months of hire)
Possession and maintenance of current certifications in CPR, First Aid and AED.
Possession and maintenance of current Food Handler's Permit.

KNOWLEDGE OF:
Writing and communication skills.

Graphic design, advertising design, press release writing, media and public relations.
Computer software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat Pro, Canva
Computer/word processor data input procedures, photo, and video equipment.

Effectively represent City in presentations to City Council, Commissions and other large groups.
Research, collect, compile and objectively analyze data.
Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and modify as needed.
Take initiative in performance of assigned duties with minimal supervision.
Manage time efficiently and effectively through scheduling and prioritizing assigned work program.
Work within and contribute to the effectiveness of a team, respecting differences.
Maintain acceptable attendance.
Develop and build rapport with the public.
Coordinate activities and cooperate with local school district and community organizations.
Monitor program expenditures and revenues.
Assist in budget preparation.
