Application Specialist job in Ellensburg

The City of Ellensburg has a vacancy in the IT division of the Finance Department for an Application Specialist.

Continually promote improved use of the right technology to enable more effective and efficient city operations through the use of Financial Management System (FMS) and Customer Information System (CIS) software applications as well as all software related to the aforementioned software. Provide excellent customer service to city departments through the development and support of financial and customer information systems, software applications, and services to users. Plan, organize, coordinate and manage the installation, maintenance, operation, and, upgrade of FMS and CIS software applications as well as all software related to the aforementioned software.

This senior level, non-management position performs independently under the general supervision of the Finance Director and will analyze, design, implement and support certain software applications and related business processes. The Applications Specialist will monitor software operations, forecast resource needs, recommend alternatives and facilitate acquisitions and/or upgrades; support effective and efficient city operations through the use of software; ascertain software needs of users and facilitate successful implementation and operation of software applications. This position will support the implementation and integration of certain software information technology projects. This position provides expert-level knowledge and experience with FMS and CIS software applications as well as all software related to the aforementioned software. Requires a high level of confidentiality, attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and ability to prioritize tasks effectively. This position serves as the application functionality generalist and understands the flow of information within the applications, how the data is stored, and how the information is used. Additionally, this position provides effective training to application users and parties to the related business processes, manages the security of the applications, and monitors risks of related business processes.

Salary: $5,314 - $7,085/month – FLSA Exempt plus excellent benefits

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education in Computer Science, Accounting, or a related field, and a minimum of five (5) years’ of increasingly responsible experience managing and supporting FMS and/or CIS software applications. An equivalent combination of education, training and or experience may be substituted if it provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to accomplish the required functions. Must possess experience with complex relational databases. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP or other similar FMS system and CIS software is desirable. Government or other public sector work experience is preferred.

Valid State driver's license or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment; maintain insurable driving record; and maintain current First Aid and CPR certification.

Special Requirements:

Applicants must agree to a credit check and be in good credit standing having no debts currently assigned to collections with a history that reflects no pattern of credit instability. The applicant must not have a pending garnishment or judgement which may cause undue hardship while employed with this agency with the exception of child support. The hiring authority shall determine the status of applicant’s credit history on a case by case basis. Prior to hire, applicants are required to pass a background check.
