The City of Renton's Information and Technology division is looking for a skilled Service Desk Technician that can work across a broad range of technologies and provide customer service to multiple departments in order to resolve incidents, troubleshoot problems and respond to requests. The right applicant will have excellent customer service skills in face-to-face, telephone and/or electronic interactions with clients and be able to communicate in technical and nontechnical terms. Problem-solving skills and a good understanding of computer support and troubleshooting are a must. JOB SUMMARY: This classification is part of a series as follows: Technician Level: Support Information Technology Service Desk job functions. Provide technical, professional, and analytical Service Desk support to City staff. Apply appropriate policies and procedures to address technology issues and provide responsive, approachable, and effective customer service. Work independently with direct oversight from supervisor. Ability to move to Senior Level requires three years' service desk support experience handling and successfully solving a variety of problems, and completion of the A+ Certification and MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional). Senior Level: Oversee complex and/or high-profile Information Technology Service Desk job functions and take the lead on most tasks or projects. Provide experienced technical, professional, analytical and organizational Service Desk consultation to City staff. Exercise greater knowledge and independence in addressing technology problems and issues. Work independently, keeping supervisor apprised of workload status. Oversee supplemental staff as assigned.
