Description

Olympic College is recruiting to fill full-time administrative position for Director of Campus Security. This is an over-time exempt position that reports to the Vice President of Administration. This position is responsible for leading efforts to protect and safeguard the students and employees of the college as well college assets. The Director coordinates and manages the day-to-day security of the college in addition to responsibility for mandatory state and federal reporting regarding security. The Campus Security Office is responsible for providing support for all three campuses. This position will work closely with the Director of Emergency Management, Environmental Health and Safety Manager, Capital Projects Manager and Director of Facilities to ensure a safe and secure campus environment for all students and employees

  • Provide leadership, direction, guidance on campus security, and dispatch in support of three campuses.
  • Coordinates with Environmental Health and Safety Manager, Director of Facilities and Director of Emergency Management to provide a team approach to safety and security in support of three campuses.
  • Advise Executive Staff on emerging state or national initiatives related to campus security.
  • Ensure College compliance with all applicable statutes, regulations, internal controls, and fiscal policies and procedures relating to higher education institution security.
  • Develop broad college-wide involvement and understanding of security issues, plans, and activities.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with emergency first responder agencies, emergency management organizations and college incident management team members.
  • Collaborate with College leadership on transportation management issues including parking policies and operations and alternative transportation modes.
  • Provide leadership and direction on college wide initiatives and committees as assigned.
  • Provide leadership at the state level through participation in appropriate councils of the Washington Association of Community and Technical Colleges, the State Board of Community and Technical Colleges and professional and industry associations.
  • Participate and lead College-wide policy development and implementation as a member of the Administrative Services team.
  • Design and implement improved strategies that ensure the parking operations will be self-supporting.
  • Ensure that college campus security and dispatch operations are customer service focused and consistent with the needs of the college community.
  • Participate in college emergency communications with the technology departments and the public information staff.
  • Develop and implement training on campus security procedures for faculty, staff and students including such special populations as international students, persons with limited English knowledge, and disabled persons.
  • Develop annual work plans, assessment metrics and annual budget for areas of responsibility.
  • Analyze crime statistics and appropriately deploy campus security assets.
  • Assure that required annual security report, including annual Clery report are properly prepared and published in a timely manner.

Essential Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, business administration, public administration or a related field.
  • Two or more years of progressive management experience in a public safety environment (including military service, etc.), or a security agency. 

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a community college
