Description

The Communications and Website Coordinator is responsible for generating and managing original content for Olympic College's variety of publications, website and social media presence. The Position will work closely with the Communications Director and various divisions and departments of the college to assure the college's branding and web standards are applied and manage quality assurance of all web content. The position will work closely with regional media outlets to ensure strong media relations and coordinate, implement and staff Olympic College Outreach and Public Relations events.

Essential Functions
Communications

  • Generate original content for a variety of publications such as the OC Blog, quarterly class schedule The View, social media and other communications channels.
  • Participate in photo and video shoots as need to content creation responsibilities
  • Perform graphic design, web design and video production as need in support of content creation responsibilities
  • Write, edit, layout and distribute news releases and other college related announcements for internal and external audiences.
  • Work closely with regional media outlets to ensure strong media relations.
  • Oversee and advise on content and collateral creation for OC divisions and departments.
  • Coordinate, implement and staff OC outreach and public relations events

Website

  • Coordinate and provide training to Content Management System editors
  • Manage quality assurance of the website
  • Work closely with Communications Director and other areas of the college to develop and manage strategies that enhance the website
  • Apply the College's web standards, branding, guidelines, policies and procedures in the support and maintenance of departmental web pages
  • Conduct content audits to ensure division and department content is current
  • Work closely with divisions and departments to ensure content current and engaging
  • Monitor and correct errors
  • Make recommendation and plans for website and content improvements
  • Ensure top-level webpages assigned to the Communications Department are current
  • Work closely with IT and Web Services staff to troubleshoot and maintain all webpages on Olympic.edu
  • Work closely with Web Services staff to maintain and improve website information architecture and file structure
  • Ensure website meets WCAG 2.0 accessibility standards including converting PDF's and other materials into accessible formats. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, web design or closely related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience with web content and web interface design.
  • Experience in organizing and managing a comprehensive Website.
  • Experience with accessibility standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with web development/design tools
  • Experience with content management systems.
  • Experience with web coding languages (such as HTML, CSS and JS).
  • Experience with Search Engine Optimization principles
  • Experience with user interface, navigational architecture design and web best practices.
  • Experience with social media tools and strategies.
  • Experience with communications/public relations goals, strategies, tactics and evaluation, including writing to targeted audiences.
  • Experience with digital marketing campaigns, strategies and tactics.
  • Accreditation in public relations (APR) or other PR/communications credentials.
  • Familiarity with higher education and/or community colleges.
