The City of Redmond invites applicants for the position of Microsoft Construction Inspector, a limited-duration position with full benefits and an anticipated contract duration of five (5) years. Microsoft is planning a multi-year campus refresh project for its main campus in Redmond, Washington. The project will include 18 new buildings, 6.7 million square feet of renovated workspace, and $150 million in transportation infrastructure improvements as well as new public spaces, green spaces, and sports fields. The Microsoft Refresh Project has a projected completion date of Fall 2023. Once complete, Microsoft's main campus will consist of 131 buildings with enough room to support its 47,000 existing employees and up to 8,000 more future employees. The successful Microsoft Construction Inspector candidate will foster collaborative relationships between the City, the contractors, and the community. The candidate will read and interpret complex drawings, plans, and specifications to effectively communicate technical information and prepare, organize, and maintain inspection field and office data reports, systems, and sketches to document field changes and as-builts. Research and data analysis to remain current with emerging technologies as they relate to the field will be a major function of this position. The candidate will exercise independent judgment to negotiate and problem-solve with contractors, developers, property owners, employees, and consultants to anticipate problems and pursue solutions.
